We Help Children Heal, Grow, and Build Independent Futures
Friends of Mahima raises critical financial support for Mahima India’s work to prevent trafficking and help children recover from exploitation and abuse.
Through residential homes, community outreach, trauma-informed counseling, education, healthcare, legal support, and vocational training, Mahima provides the long-term care children need to heal and build lives of safety, dignity, and opportunity.
Who We Are
Friends of Mahima is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2024 to expand awareness and financial support for Mahima India.
By connecting donors with Mahima’s proven work in Kolkata, we help sustain the care, education, and opportunities children need to experience lasting freedom.
HOW MAHIMA CREATES LASTING CHANGE
Residential Homes
Three residential homes provide children under 18 who have survived trafficking, exploitation, or abuse with safety, stability, and holistic care in a nurturing environment.
Outreach Centers
Two outreach centers in Kolkata’s red-light district provide children of women in the sex trade with a safe place to learn, receive care, and build a future beyond exploitation.
Trafficking Prevention
Mahima educates children and families about their basic human rights and raises awareness about trafficking and its impact in schools, villages, and communities
Support That Creates Lasting Change
Every contribution to Friends of Mahima helps sustain the care children need to move from vulnerability toward safety, healing, and independence.
By supporting Mahima India’s long-term programs, donors help provide safe housing, counseling, healthcare, education, legal assistance, and vocational training- giving children the support and opportunities they need to build their futures.
Rescue Is Only the Beginning
For children who have experienced trafficking, exploitation, or abuse, reaching safety is an essential first step—but healing and rebuilding can take years.
Without safe housing, trauma-informed counseling, education, healthcare, legal advocacy, and consistent support, children may remain vulnerable to further exploitation. Mahima’s holistic approach helps each child recover, regain her voice, and develop the skills and stability needed to build an independent future.
Mahima India stepped in to introduce a new standard of care by providing professional, trauma-informed counseling, education, legal services, and repatriation when needed - all in a nurturing, uplifting environment.
Restoring dignity. Renewing hope. Rebuilding lives.
This past year,
650 children
received critical care through the services of Mahima, India.
